Participation Who can take part? Stock Market Learning is a competition run by the European Savings Banks for pupils and university students. There are also competitions for teachers and journalists. Some Savings Banks offer separate competitions for anyone interested in securities. Pupils must have the support of a teacher to participate, and university students must be enrolled at a university or other higher educational institution. Which Savings Bank is concerned for students – the savings bank in the place of residence or in the place of study? There is no rule for the responsibility. The participation is only allowed with one Savings Bank. Please ask both savings banks. They will decide, which one is responsible for your participation. My local savings bank does not offer Stock Market Learning. What should I do? Each savings banks decides whether or not to offer Stock Market Learning. Unfortunately, if a savings bank does not do so, there is no way for you to take part. How can I take part? Please install the Stock Market Learning app (see app-stores) on your mobile device. When you click on “New Registration” and enter your registration code, you will be assigned to a savings bank and a competition. You get the registration code from your Savings Bank (or from your teacher). Can I take part as an individual? In the competition for pupils (and for aprentices of the savings banks) teams must consist of 2 to 4 persons. The other competitions are for individual participation only. What about the competition and training account? In Stock Market Learning each team in the School Competition or Competition for savings bank trainees (or each individual player in the other competitions) receives both a training and a competition account. The training account is for practice and will not be taken into consideration in the rankings or in the determination of the winners. Registration and opening/ activation of accounts When can I register? You can register from 9 September 2025 until 13 November 2024. What should be kept in mind when choosing a name for a group or an individual competitor? Do not use offensive names with a sexual, religious, political or racist content. Do not use brand names or proper names that might violate someone’s rights (this includes domain names and Web addresses). Choose the name with care, because in case of a good placement in the ranking, your name will be reported in the local and national press. Once you have registered, you cannot change the name of a group or individual competitor. The administrators of the savings banks and Stock Market Learning headquarters have the right to change group names and competitor names at any time if they are not in keeping with the rules. If necessary, we will block your account until you submit a new name. Will my registration be checked and activated? After registering, you can start directly. However, the team- or username is only included in the ranking after a check. In addition, the supervising savings bank has the right to delete the account for valid reasons. It’s taking very long to open an account. When you register, the responsible Savings Bank checks the information you enter. If this information is correct, your account will be opened. Can members be added to a team after an account has been activated? Please use the contact form to report any such changes to the Savings Bank for approval. The only persons invited to the award ceremony will be those who were properly registered in the system. Username and password I’ve forgotten my password or username. What should I do? Click on Reset password/username in the menu and enter the e-mail address that you used at registration. An e-mail with a Reset Code will be sent to this address. Enter the code on the next online page. You will then see your username and can also change your password if necessary. Please send an e-mail to headoffice (headoffice@stockmarket-learning.eu) Trading and orders What is an order? A request to buy or sell securities. How do we place orders in Stock Market Learning? Buying: Click on “Buy” in the menu of your account. You’ll now see the list of tradable securities. Select the desired security and use the form to enter how many you require. Alternatively, you can choose the amount of capital you want to use and the number of securities will be calculated for you. To buy shares in addition to those that you already have, first click on “Account contents” and then on the security. Now you can buy more shares as described above. Selling: Go to the “Account contents” section of your account. Now click on the desired security, then on “Sell”. Now you can sell a specific number of your shares or all of them. What share prices do you use when settling orders? All orders are continuously settled with the bid or ask prices for the respective security after the order has been placed on the Stuttgart Stock Exchange. Since the orders in Stock Market Learning – compared to real trading – do not influence the price formation, this may take longer time, especially in the case of securities that are not traded so frequently. An overview of the current prices can be found under Market/ Prices and Securities. Which securities can be ordered? In Stock Market Learning, shares on well-known indexes, such as DAX ©, MDAX ©, TecDAX ©, SDAX ©, Eurostoxx50 ©, Dow Jones ©, FTSE MIB ©, Nasdaq100 © and Global Challenges Index © (sustainability index) can be traded in euros along with a selection of listed funds, ETFs and fixed-interest securities which are available/tradable on the Stuttgart Stock Exchange. When will our order be executed? Market order (cheapest or best): As soon as a bid or ask price has been established for a security, after the order has been entered on the relevant exchange, the order is settled and booked in the securities account. Bid or ask prices with volume “0” do not lead to an order execution. Limit or stop orders: Here, an additional check is made whether the price reaches, exceeds or falls below the specified limit or stop (depending on the order type and execution condition). Which prices are used to settle the orders? All orders are continuously settled with the bid or ask prices for the respective security after the order has been placed on the Stuttgart Stock Exchange. Since the orders in Stock Market Learning – compared to real trading – do not influence the price formation, this may take longer time, especially in the case of securities that are not traded so frequently. An overview of the current prices can be found under Market/ Prices and Securities. What are limit orders and stop orders? When placing an order you can set an upper or lower price limit. All buy and sell orders can be placed along with a limit or stop. How can I set a limit or stop when ordering? The form for buying and selling has “Limit/Stop” fields. Enter your limit or stop order in euros and cents per share (for fixed-interest securities as a percentage). Note: A buy limit order or a stop loss order will only be executed if the settlement price has reached or has fallen below the limit. A sell limit order or a stop buy order will only be executed if the settlement price has reached or is higher than the limit. How long are my orders valid? You can specify a period for execution. This is either the actual trading day or 14 days. Can we reinvest our earnings from sales of shares right away? Yes, you can. Can we overdraw our account? Overdrawing is not allowed in Stock Market Learning. You can only invest money that is on your account. How can we delete or change an order? Orders can be withdrawn as long as they are not yet executed. Why wasn’t our order executed? The order is blocked by a still open order for the corresponding security. This can have the following reasons: The specified limit/stop of the open order has not yet been reached. There have only been bid or ask prices with volume “0” for the security of the open order so far (which do not lead to an order execution). There is no longer enough “capital” in the securities account for the desired purchase amount. This is already checked when the order is entered and reported back to the participant. A single security (including co-valued holdings in an account) may, at the time it is bought, not be worth more than 20% of the overall value of the account. This is checked at the time the order is placed and reported back to the participant. Must I sell all the securties held in my account before the final calculation (end of game) No, this is not necessary. What fees must we pay? There is a virtual fee for each order, just like in real life. You will find a list of fees in the Competition rules. The fees are also shown in the form for buying and selling. Rankings How can we find out what our current ranking is? You can find your current ranking in the securities account under “Account evaluation” and in the “Rankings” section. Everything that the savings bank allows to be displayed is shown there. At the end of each trading day, value checks are carried out and the rankings are updated overnight. If you still see old lists, simply click on “Refresh” until you see the current date above the rankings. Our account is not shown in the ranking of our savings bank. Why not? Most likely your account is not yet qualified. That is, you have not yet placed three orders. The ranking information in our account has disappeared. Has something gone wrong? After the halfway date some Savings Banks hide this information to increase the suspense. They will disclose the final rankings at the end of the competition. In the ranking, my / our securities account is listed without the name of the participant or the teamname. What is the reason for this? Your participant- or teamnames will appear in the ranking list as soon as they have been approved by your savings bank. Please also note the instructions for choosing the participant- or teamname!
